Teenagers loose in New York City, navigating the subways, cooking spaghetti dinners for their friends, and designing their own trip to a faraway destination. This may not sound like church, but it all happens during J2A! J2A is all about gaining independence. J2Aers are ready to assume more responsibility for themselves and their friends. This means trying new things, but doing it around people (group members and leaders) who are supporting you and helping you succeed. J2A members are in grades 9-10, and the program is specifically created to help these young people again the skills they need to become successful adults and thoughtful Christians. These skills are gained through Sunday morning discussions as well as some hands-on experiences, such as the “Urban Adventure” overnight trip to New York City and a variety of outings/retreats.
One of the main highlights of J2A is a pilgrimage taken by the group and its leaders at the end of the two-year program. The trip is not a vacation, or even a mission trip, although it has elements of both in it. It is quite literally a journey to experience the Holy Spirit, and follows in the footsteps of the millions of pilgrims who have traveled on similar journeys. J2A meets on select Sunday from 5:00-6:30pm with various outings and retreats throughout the year. The group is always open to new members and emphasizes learning from and welcoming new experiences. So come check it out!
